Boasting some wonderful brutalist architecture, Salem Public Library not only grants access to a huge array of books, newspapers and music, but facilitates the public access to a lot of other resources. It puts on a lot of community events, too: “storytimes” for young children, lectures, and meetings on issues that affect the local residents and area such as homelessness. Its librarians are not only able to help with checking out books and fulfilling those more tricky book requests, but also are able to help with homework problems for children, too. It has also kept up with the huge technological advances made in recent times, and provides internet and printing services, and has a wealth of e-resources. In the time of COVID-19, the librarians have transformed many of its previously-in person events into online ones, instead. Situated in the beautiful and leafy neighbourhood of Grant, Salem Public Library is a well-stocked and useful resource for residents across Salem.
